Maui Day Two-The Road to Hana-Part 3

Catch an article I wrote for Click It Up a Notch!

Our next stop of Hana Highway was Honomanu Bay. We stopped here and enjoyed the sun for a few minutes before we decided to eat our lunch that we had bought along the way (it was really stinking up the Subaru!). The beach was really gravely and hurt my feet.....and I have tough feet. It started sprinkling a little bit so we sat in the back of the Subaru and watched some locals eat a fresh coconut. At first we thought this was a black sand beach, but the book I bought says that it is just a "gravely beach". We took some anyway to add to our "beaches we have been to jar" thanks for the idea Pinterest, which Brent totally thought he had come up with the idea first. I think Pinterest has every idea covered.

This is Wailua Valley State Wayside. That is the village of Wailua which is known for growing taro. I've never tried taro, but from what it says in the book, I'm not missing much.

This is our FAVORITE stop! It was fun getting there and I think we could have just hung out here all day if we didn't care about seeing the rest of the sights. This waterfall is called Upper Waikani Falls, also called Three Bears Falls. The directions in the book weren't exactly clear, but we saw some people down at the falls when we approached. We were trying to figure out how to get down when they came back up! So worth the hike down! It was beautiful!

Brent decided to take a swim. Too cold for me!

That is the bridge that we are parked up the road from. We had to climb over the side of the bridge and back under on a strategically placed rock (by someone) to get down to the stream, then upstream by rock hopping to the waterfall.

The next stop off was this one. No name...just water coming off of several waterfalls upstream (that we didn't go see) into a pool below.

I'm hoping to finish up the Road to Hana in the next post. Still lots of catching up to do!

Stunning! I enjoyed your guest post on Courtney's blog BTW! As I said there, your practice has definitely paid off!

Beautiful Laurie! What lens did you use for most of your photos. We have a trip planned for the beginning of February and I want to purchase a new lens. I just don't know which one to get. I am thinking a zoom of some sort since all I use now are primes. Thanks!

Looks Amazing, but so far my favorite picture is the one of your Miami Vice :)
